* These (*5´d & *å= ) Assumptions are invented by Mitun (There may be variation. But the data provided by Cobb & Hubbard Company are near about the data calculated by Mitun’s Formula. It’s may not be accurate for other broiler or layer or cockerel. The accuracy may be varied depending on the management practices, climatic condition and nutritional values of feeds & supplements. This assumption is created to calculate the body weight, feed consumption or water intake in a simply way by Mitun. It might not be accepted as a reference.)

Though in our country management practices of broiler rearing is very poor, in field investigations, it is found that in our country the performances of broiler are better than the recommended performances provided by the Hubbard and Cobb Company.

Calculating body weight, feed consumption or water intake by implementing Mitun’s Formula

(Arithmetic Series: 1+2+3+4+…………………………+n = í(1st term + Last term) ´ Number of termsý)

Arithmetic Series for calculating Cumulative Feed Consumption at a particular day:

5´ (1+2+3+4+…………………………+35) = ?

Here; 1, 2, 3, 4………….35; Number of days which were used as the terms of the formulae.

We can find out the total amount of feed consumption up to a particular day by using following formula;

(Sum of the Series) å = 5 ´ í(1st term + Last term) ´ Number of termsý

Suppose we want to find out the Cumulative Feed Consumption of 30 days,

5´(1+2+3+……………+30) = 5´ í(1 + 30) ´ 30ý= 2325gm = Cumulative Feed Consumption up to 30th day

2325gm, which is near about Recommended Cumulative Feed Consumption up to 30th day

Recommended Cumulative Feed Consumption up to 30th day=2330 (HC) & 2350 (Cobb)

  1. Formula for calculating Feed Consumption at a particular day: 5 ´ Days

If we want to find out the Feed Consumption on a particular day, we can use the following formula:

Suppose we want to find out the Feed Consumption at the 30th day= 5´30=150 gm, which is near about Recommended Feed Consumption at the 30th day

Recommended Feed Consumption at the 30th day=143gm (HC) & 168gm (Cobb)

We can also find out the body weight by following way:

Suppose we want to find out the Body Weight at the 23rd day

Recommended Body Weight at the 23rd day= 1009gm (HC) & 988gm (Cobb)

By using these formulae we can easily assume how much feed or water will respectively be consumed or intake at a particular day of age & what will be the approximate body weight on a certain day.

We can also find out the water Consumption,

Water Consumption= Feed Consumption ´ 1.7 (This formula is taken from Hubbard Company)
